Free Meningococcal Vaccine Available to Year Ten Students from Stawell Medical Centre

There were seven reported cases of Meningococcal Disease in The Grampians in 2017 with 89 cases across the state resulting in six deaths. Teenagers aged 15 and 16 are at greatest risk of contracting, spreading and carrying the disease throughout their school, family and friends. The Victorian Government has a free Meningococcal Vaccine Program available to year 10 students until the end of the year.

The vaccine is available from Stawell Medical Centre and with one in ten cases proving fatal within 24-48 hours of diagnosis, it might be wise to make an appointment soon. You can call them on  03 5358 1410.
