Statutory Duty of Candour
Victoria’s Duty of Candour legislation commenced on 30 November 2022. It ensures that patients and their families/carers receive an apology and open, honest communication when they suffer a serious adverse patient safety event.
We partnered with the Health Issues Centre to develop patient resources to aid in the understanding of the new legislation and you can find these at Resources for patients, families and their carers | Safer Care Victoria.
To contact the Duty of Candour team, please email dutyofcandour@health.vic.gov.au.
