Graduate Nurse Program for 2025

Launch your nursing career with Grampians Health Stawell

Our Graduate Nurse Program (GNP) supports newly registered nurses as they transition to professional practice. The program enables graduates to consolidate and further develop their knowledge, skills and competence under supervision and guidance. The supportive program provides a platform for the development of safe, confident and accountable nursing professionals.

Opportunities obtained throughout the program at Grampians Health Stawell provide strong foundations for a career in nursing.

The program is coordinated by the Clinical Education Coordinator with support by the members of the Clinical Education Team, including the Clinical Nurse Educator and experienced preceptors throughout the 52-week program.

Rotation areas for graduates may include:

    • perioperative
    • acute medical/surgical
    • day oncology
    • urgent care
    • community, and
    • residential aged care.

The Graduate Nurse Program also includes:

    • Tailored orientation (one week)
    • Supernumerary time in each clinical rotation area (one week)
    • Rostered study days with other Graduates in the region
    • Fortnightly graduate support sessions with the CNE
    • Use of an interactive online learning portal

Selection & Recruitment Process

Grampians Health participates in the PMCV Allocation and Placement Service process for all graduate nurse vacancies.

Eligibility criteria can be found at www.gnmp.pmcv.com.au.

Applicants should list Grampians Health Stawell campus as one of their preferences when applying on PMCV applications.

Applicants also need to apply directly to Grampians Health E-Recruit nominating the campus for which they are applying.

The application should include:

    • a letter of introduction
    • a brief CV
    • academic transcripts up to year 3 semester 1
    • a list of all clinical placements
    • clinical assessments from year 2 and 3
    • a passport sized photo
    • contacts of two professional referees (refer to PMCV handbook – link provided above)

Employment Conditions

    • Candidates must have current registration with AHPRA. Classification is based on the Victorian Nurses Award and the current Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
    • A probationary period of three months applies to all graduates based on their performance appraisal.
    • Annual leave can be taken as negotiated with the Nurse Unit Managers of relevant rotation areas.
